Recently – Summerville, Georgia Police responded to a report of a stolen firearm from a residence on Henderson Street.
The call came in at approximately 9:50pm, and upon arrival, officers met with the victim, identified as Gerald Stewart, who stated that his firearm had been kept underneath his pillow in his bedroom. Stewart said that the only individual who had accessed his home that day was a male subject – that had previously entered his bedroom to repair a door. The theft was discovered when Stewart went to make his bed, only to find the firearm missing.
At the time of that report, Stewart was unable to provide a serial number for the weapon – but indicated that he would reach out to a friend able to provide that information. Stewart mentioned that the firearm had been pawned to him by a friend, in exchange for a loan of money. The responding officer assured Stewart that a report would be drafted and then forwarded to an investigator, for further examination.
Stewart was advised to contact the Summerville Police Department once he had obtained the serial number for the firearm, which could aid in the ongoing investigation.
