PIEDMONT – Returning from a foot injury that caused him to miss last week’s game at Westbrook Christian, Piedmont senior quarterback Cole Wilson proved he’s more than recovered on Friday night against B.B. Comer.

Wilson accounted for six touchdowns (5 passing, 1 rushing) in leading the Class 3A No. 4 Bulldogs to 58-16 throttling of visiting B.B. Comer.

Wilson connected with Rollie Pinto for Piedmont’s first two scores that went for 31 and 50 yards in the first quarter. Hayes Gunn put the Bulldogs (5-0) up 20-0 in the second quarter with his 4-yard touchdown run.

Tristan Garrett got the Tigers (1-4) on the scoreboard with his 4-yard touchdown run in the second, but Piedmont scored twice more on Wilson’s scoring tosses to Ishmael Bethel (24 yards) and Pinto (59 yards) to put Piedmont in front 32-8.

B.B. Comer scored just before halftime on Raelon Sims’ 55-yard run to make it a 32-16 game.

Piedmont went on a 26-0 run in the second half for the final. Wilson opened the third-quarter scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run. He then connected with Bethel on a 46-yard scoring pass just before the quarter ended.

Bethel caught three passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns. Pinto hauled in four receptions for 160 yards and three scores.

Backup quarterback Cole Austin scored on runs of 7 and 59 yards in the fourth for the final. Austin had 77 yards on four carries with the two scores. Gunn had 81 yards on 12 totes with a touchdown for the Bulldogs.
