Cherokee County splits area volleyball matches with White Plains, Anniston

WHITE PLAINS – Minus junior setter Macy Lea, who suffered an injury during a match at Fort Payne last Thursday, the Cherokee County Lady Warriors split a Class 4A Area 12 tri-match at White Plains with Anniston on Monday evening.

The Lady Warriors lost to White Plains 25-14, 23-25, 17-25 and 21-25, but rebounded to sweep Anniston 25-0, 25-8 and 25-6 to improve to 27-9 on the season.

For the night, Jolie Alexander delivered 27 aces, six kills, a dig and a block for the Lady Warriors. Kadie Henderson managed 16 assists, six aces, a kill and two digs. Nevaeh Gaidurgis came away with 10 kills, 13 digs, seven aces and three blocks. Ava Haygood had 11 kills, six digs and a block. Jesslyn Hincy earned 12 assists, four digs and four aces

Ellisan Givens gained 14 digs, 12 aces and an assist. Raegan Garmany contributed three kills and two digs. Lilly Shaw posted five kills and a pair of blocks. Libby Curry collected four kills, four aces and a dig. Shamiya McElrath finished with two kills.

Cherokee County hosts Jacksonville and Ohatchee on Tuesday beginning at 5 p.m.
