Rogers accounts for five touchdowns in Collinsville rout at Asbury

ALBERTVILLE – For the second straight week, Collinsville junior running back Quintavious Rogers scored five touchdowns (3 rushing, 2 receiving) to lead the Panthers in a 62-0 rout at Asbury on Thursday night in Class 3A Region 8 football action.

Rogers scored Collinsville’s first four touchdowns on a 12-yard run and 1-yard run in the first quarter, a 1-yard run and a 30-yard pass from quarterback Mason McAteer in the second. Gavin Lang also connected on a 14-yard touchdown pass to Jan Segura in the second to give Collinsville a 35-0 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, Lang connected with Rogers on a 29-yard score. Derrick Orr later returned a fumble eight yards for a touchdown to push the Panther lead to 48-0 after three quarters.

Logan Hanson scored on runs of 6 and 19 yards in the fourth for the final.

McAteer was 6 of 7 passing for 95 yards and a touchdown. Lang connected on all six of his pass attempts for 123 yards and two scores. Lang and Rogers both caught a pair of passes for 59 yards.

Collinsville (3-1, 2-1) hosts Sand Rock on Sept. 27.
