Raise Awareness by Wearing Purple on Kleefstra Awareness Day – Tuesday, September 17th

Raise Awareness by Wearing Purple on Kleefstra Awareness Day, Tuesday, September 17th

There are only about 5,000 in the world with this genetic disorder which affects the 9th chromosome.  With it being newly discovered there’s only minimal research – so the community is seeking to change this by raising awareness; one of the ways to do that is by EVERYONE WEARING PURPLE on Kleefstra Awareness Day, Tuesday, September 17th.  Last year, Senator Andrew Jones, assisted in getting the State of Alabama, and the City of Centre, to recognize EACH September 17th, OFFICIALLY as Kleefstra Awareness Day.

In honor of Liam Thompson – and also the rest of the Kleefstra Syndrome family we invite everyone in the community to show their support and to wear purple on this day with us!

Centre Elementary, Liam’s School, has announced that they’ll be showing their support that day and wearing purple with us!
