The accident occurred before 11 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Highway 77 and Pilgrims Rest Road in Southside.
Jeffrey Harwood, 71, was rushed to Riverview Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, this according to Southside Police. Harwood was Police Chief of Rainbow City in 2005.
The other driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the crash of Harwood.
