Murder/Suicide in Grove Oak Community – From the Office of DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden:

On Thursday, August the 8th (2024), the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Grove Oak community to conduct a welfare check.    After several attempts to make contact with the homeowners, deputies made entry in to the residence and found a male and female deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

The DeKalb County Criminal Investigation Division responded and they processed the scene.  After collecting evidence it’s believed that the male occupant took the life of the female and then took his own life

DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident: I would like to thank the 9th Judicial District Attorney’ Office, ALEA and the Geraldine Fire Department for assisting in this investigation – and we may never understand the “why” of this senseless tragedy but I do know the family and friends need all your prayers in the months to come.”

More information may be presented at a later date.
