Birmingham, Alabama Woman Facing Charges in Georgia

A Birmingham, Alabama woman – is currently facing charges, just across the state line in neighboring Floyd County, Georgia, including possession of items prohibited for inmates, also the use of a communications device to commit a felony and also with the possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

According to Floyd County Jail records Ikea Shanique Norwood – age 32 – conspired with an inmate over phone lines at the Floyd County Prison, as well as emails and video visitations – to smuggle – more than 8 ounces of marijuana into the prison.

Norwood left the marijuana – along with cigarettes and rolling papers, at the inmate’s assigned work detail location at Floyd County Public Animal Welfare Services on North Avenue in Rome.

The incident dates back to April 29th of 2021.
