A former part-time DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputy – who stands accused of sexual conduct with children – will face additional charges.
The Sheriff’s Office confirms that the District Attorney – approved MORE charges against Joshua Wells. It says the additional charges are related to the same case but it is still an on-going investigation. Jail records show he was booked into the Cherokee County Jail at around 5:00pm that day. He was out on bond for second degree Sexual Abuse, in DeKalb County. Wells was first arrested on July 18th after a tip from a concerned parent.
An investigation revealed he had violated the policy, and the procedures, of the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and was therefore terminated.
Wells was not employed full-time by the Sheriff’s Office and he was in the Alabama Law Enforcement Police Academy, attempting to complete all of the required certification to become a law enforcement officer.
We’ll have additional information as it becomes available.
