Mr. Douglas Farrell VanSandt age 64 of Centre passed away at Gadsden Regional Medical Centre, July 27, 2024. He was the loving husband of LaRilda Stepps VanSandt of Centre, father of Ryan Lee VanSandt of Florida, and the late Juddson William VanSandt of Centre. Grandfather of Wyatt Lee VanSandt, His nieces are, Jana Dempsey, Dana (Jeremy) Gibson, Cassi Savage (Chris) Morrow, nephew Wesley (Laney) Savage, and several great-nieces and nephews.
Mr. VanSandt was a native of Birmingham, AL, then Gadsden, AL, and resided in Centre, AL. He was the son of the late Douglas Farrell “Buddy” VanSandt Sr. and Georgia Lee Tate Gilbreath, son-in-law of Betty Stepps Stephens. He was associated with the Congregational Holiness Church.
Douglas was an avid wood maker of birdhouses, Christmas trees, flags, signs, shelves, etc.
He loved his family and friends; He was a proud husband, father and “Paw”, special friends and family, Cecil Kinsley, and Skylynn “G-Baby” and J.W. and Crissy Aldridge and his fur-buddy, Lil Bit (Whittle).
A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 2:00Pm at Cherokee Memory Garden.
