Fort Payne’s ‘Alabama’ to be Honored in Special TV Broadcast August 15th

Fort Payne’s own Alabama will be celebrated on August 15th, when “CMT Giants: Alabama” premieres on CMT at 7:00pm.

Artists and celebrities set to honor the country music greats will include:

Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley, Evander Holyfield, Jason Aldean, Jamey Johnson, Lionel Richie, Little Big Town, Lorrie Morgan, Luke Bryan, Martina McBride, Old Dominion, Pam Tillis, Riley Green, Sam Hunt, Steve Wariner and Vince Gill.

This will be a star-studded salute to the extraordinary career, and music, of one of the most successful and iconic country groups of all time.

Guest stars will appear both in-person – and virtually – to share personal stories – reflecting on Alabama’s incredible impact on the music industry blended alongside rare photos, performance footage and rare interviews from the vault, and as a special treat there will be an all-new “sit down” – with Alabama’s Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry where they will reflect on their storied career.

In a career of more than 50 years, the three cousins from DeKalb County, racked up 21 straight #1 singles; it’s a record that will probably never be equaled in any genre.

That two-hour special was filmed in front of a live audience – at Belmont University’s Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in Nashville, earlier in this year.
