Cherokee County School Resource Officer Unit Commended

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office’s very own “School Resource Officer Unit” – has received the Alabama Association of School Resource Officers statewide unit award!

This award is given each year at the annual TAASRO summer conference to the SRO unit that has exemplified dedication, integrity, and passion in their call to service – and not only does this award reflect positively on Cherokee County, it highlights all the SRO’s around the country and the significant role that they play in the lives of educators and students.

Sheriff Jeff Shaver stated, “I could not be more proud of the amazing men and women that we have working here at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office. When we founded our first ever SRO unit back in 2019, through a cooperative between the Sheriff’s Office, Board of Education and County Commission – we all envisioned a setting  where education could be the number one priority in a safe environment.”

The SRO Unit is supervised by Lt. Jordan Kelley and is joined by Deputies Floyd Brooks, Kasey West, Brandon Harris, John Sentell, Jamie Parris, Tracy Nelson, and Dalton Cosby.
