According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, last week deputies and investigators were called to an address in reference to a burglary. Investigators and deputies quickly developed a suspect and went to his house and later retrieved all the stolen items.
Warrants were later obtained for Emanuel Heath Kiser (47 y/o of Cedar Bluff) for Burglary 3rd, Theft of Property 1st, and Criminal Mischief 2nd.
The following day, investigators went to Kiser’s residence in effort to arrest him. While on scene, someone called 911 and reported a man matching Kiser’s description coming out of the lake and was possibly attempting to hide in their yard. Investigators arrived on scene, saw Kiser, and observed Kiser stealing a boat to elude them.
As Kiser began crossing the lake, citizens offered investigators Jet Skis to get across the lake. Investigators crossed the lake and after a lengthy chase on foot investigators took Kiser into custody.
Kiser was additionally arrested for Theft of Property 1st, Criminal Mischief 1st, and Attempt to Elude.
Sheriff Shaver added; “I would like to thank the caring individuals that helped investigators apprehend Kiser. Our citizens are the reason why Cherokee County is one of the best counties to live in!”
