A man was arrested, after he attempted to outrun law enforcement along Highway 100 in a chase that originated in Chattooga County, and reached speeds of 120 miles-per-hour before ending in Floyd County, Georgia.
According to reports from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, a Deputy on patrol noticed a black Corvette speeding – and recognized the vehicle, as one that had been pulled over by the officer the day before.
The deputy then attempted to pull the Corvette over, however the driver accelerated – refusing to stop.
When that chase reached the intersection of Highway 20 in Floyd County, the driver of the Corvette headed west on 20, and he, once again, reached speeds of approximately 120 miles-per-hour. Then according to reports, the driver suddenly began to slow down, and came to a stop near Fosters Bend Road Southwest.
Eric Allan Smith was charged with several counts: fleeing and attempting to elude, speeding, reckless driving, failure to maintain a single lane, and defective equipment – and he was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
