The City of Centre and the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce teamed up to bring the PCA Rodeo to The Historic Estes Field on Friday and Saturday nights. According to Chamber Director, Joy Perry, there were 1000 attendees on Friday and 1200 on Saturday. She said everything went very well and she was pleased with the first Rodeo Sponsored by the Chamber and the City. Local Business owners contributed through sponsorships to help with the family oriented event.
Perry said a meeting will be held this week with the Board of Directors and City Officials to determine if they want this to become an annual event. She said the venue was the perfect place to hold the rodeo. Perry said the only reason not to have it at that location would be if the attendance is larger and they outgrow it.
Food Vendors had two good nights according to Perry.
State Representative, Ginny Shaver, sat on a bull while it was still in the riding chute and the Mutton Busting event during the pre-rodeo activities was a big success.
