On Wednesday afternoon – Floyd 9-1-1 Dispatch was alerted to a vehicle vs. train accident that took place at the railroad tracks – just past Barker Road on the Alabama Highway. Upon arrival at the scene, several of the first responders did confirm that a vehicle with three occupants had been hit by a train.
Atrium Health Floyd EMS – which quickly arrived at the scene – reported that the occupants received minor injuries. Norfolk Southern Railroad was contacted to close the track to other trains near the area. The Alabama Highway was closed down COMPLETELY so the vehicle, and also railroad cross arms could be removed from the tracks.
