An 83-year-old Wellington woman was fatally injured after a vehicle that she was a passenger in hit another vehicle, and ran into a ditch on Friday afternoon in Calhoun County. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the crash happened shortly after 2:00pm on U.S. 431 near Gladden Lane about a mile north of the Alexandria city limits.
Mary C. Rich was critically injured in that crash and was transported to a local hospital where she later died of her injuries. The driver of that 2017 Toyota Camry that Rich was a passenger in – was injured – and taken to an area hospital for treatment. His condition has not been released. No other injuries were reported.
Troopers with the Highway Patrol Division are investigating the incident
