Georgia Sex Offender Charged With Failing to Register

A 43 year-old Chattooga County, Georgia man was recently arrested, on a charge of failing to register properly as a Sex Offender.

Michael Luke Shedd was sentenced to prison back in 2019 after sexually assaulting a male acquaintance that was passed out from drinking.  He admitted to the assault and then during that investigation into the incident – child pornography was found on Shedd’s cell phone.  The GBI assisted local authorities in that investigation.   Shedd was sentenced in Chattooga County Superior Court to five years in prison and he was recently released.

He is currently on probation for 20 years as part of his sentencing from 2019.   Shedd was arrested on Wednesday afternoon and booked into the Chattooga County Jail on the current charges.
