Chattooga County, Georgia Jail Employee Arrested

Chattooga County, Georgia Sheriff Mark Schrader has said that one of his employees has been arrested on Sexual Battery charges.

Sheriff Schrader issued a Press Release afterwards (on Wednesday):

“On Saturday, May 18th (of 2024) I was notified by Captain Ozment of the Summerville Police Department of a complaint against an off-duty jail officer that had been made to his office earlier that morning; as his office began investigating the complaint – my (Sheriff Schrader’s) office began a simultaneous internal investigation.  During the internal investigation – that jail officer resigned his position – stating that he felt that it was best for him and his family.

 During late afternoon on Tuesday May 21st (of 2024) I (Sheriff Schrader) received a warrant – charging Corey Lee Hunter – with a single count of misdemeanor sexual battery.  On Wednesday May 22nd (2024) – Hunter was arrested and booked into the county jail.
