Piedmont

Memorial Services for Eric Wayne Wilson, 48, of Piedmont will be held Sunday, May 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grace Pointe Church of God, 605 East Bypass (SR-25) Centre, AL 35960.

Mr. Wilson, a native of Georgetown, KY, passed away Monday, May 6, 2024 at his home after a wonderful weekend with family. He had recently gone through multiple battles with his health and spent much of 2024 in the hospital. He was discharged from the hospital on April 17, 2024 and had many good days enjoying time with family and friends, attending church at Grace Pointe and was back to making many special things in the kitchen daily.

Known for his culinary expertise, he was one to make sure meals were prepared for his wife when she came home from work, church functions, and just hanging with friends.  He had managed multiple national restaurant chains including Captain D’s, the place where he and Denni met and fell in love. Food Service Management and hospitality were in his blood and he shared that responsibility with Denni for many years as they worked alongside one another and went home together every night. Not many couples can spend as much time together and truly be happy but they were and it was apparent to all what a great team they made.

Eric was always involved and supportive in every ministry at Grace Pointe. Besides assisting Denni in the church office, he cleaned the church, taught Sunday School, led the youth group, oversaw men’s ministries and events and worked in the sound and media booth. He led Christmas toy drives and food giveaways and even created a special family style Thanksgiving meal for many years in the church fellowship hall for those without family or in need before his health declined.

He was known for his sense of humor and kept everyone smiling. His laugh was loud and contagious and his love for the Lord and his family was clear.

He is survived by his wife: Denni Peek Wilson; parents: Roger Allen and Joan Alice Hutchens Wilson; daughter: Melissa Lynn Peek and granddaughter, SueZ; son: Lucas Tyler Peek; brother: Robin Dale (Stephanie) Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a brother: Brian Stacey Wilson.

In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to the benevolence fund of Grace Pointe to cover final expenses.

Dansby Heritage Chapel is honored to serve the Wilson Family.
