Cherokee County Commission Meeting

The Monday morning meeting of the Cherokee County Commission, dealt with a number of items, in a relatively brief amount of time.

Prior to that regular meeting getting underway, and during a beforehand Planning Session, Commission Members – minus Chairman Tim Burgess, who is attending an out of town conference – met with both Adam Casey, and Ryan Lang with the Cherokee County Health Department.  Those two reported on the on-going problems with the large number of people that are not following the correct procedures around Weiss Lake – following repeated warnings.

The issue will likely be addressed using other and more stringent means – and if compliance tends to still be an issue, and then more discussion is apparently going to take place, with action to follow.

During the actual meeting of the County Commission – it was announced that Andy Lowe has recently tendered his resignation from the Cherokee County Department of Human Resources Board, and the appointment to fill his six-year unexpired term ending September of 2027 will take place  at the Monday, June 10th meeting of the Commission.

Commissioners’ also approved the agreement with the National Institute for Jail Operations for the creation, and maintenance of – legal-based jail guidelines.

They also approved an agreement with Terracon, for special inspections, and construction material services, for construction of the new Cherokee County Courthouse project – with an estimated cost of $199, 904.50.

The Commission also approved an “Alarm Signaling Monitor Agreement” with Central Station, Inc. – that for “Fire System Monitoring” – at a cost of $29.99 per month for the County Administrative Building.

The next meeting of the Cherokee County Commission, will take place in the County Administration Building, in Centre, on Tuesday, May 28th – at 5:00pm.
