Spring Garden wallops Coosa Christian 17-1, sets up regional softball showdown against Skyline

ALBERTVILLE — The Spring Garden Lady Panthers pounded out 14 hits, including nine that went for extra bases, in a 17-1 three-inning rout of Coosa Christian in the Class 1A East Softball Regional on Tuesday.

Avery Steward and Addie Word both had three hits in the game. Steward homered to lead things off. She also doubled, scored three runs and had two RBIs.

Word tripled, scored twice and drove in three runs.

Maggie Jarrett delivered a pair of doubles and scored a run. Maggie Reedy added a pair of hits, including a triple, with three runs and a RBI.

Layla Ingram also tripled, walked and scored twice. Lilly McCain and Olivia Law both doubled and drove in a run. Law also scored a run. Helena Ingram finished with a hit, two runs and a RBI.

McCain earned the win in the circle. She tossed all three innings and scattered three hits, two walks and a strikeout.

Fifth-ranked Spring Garden takes on No. 1 Skyline at 1:45 p.m. this afternoon in the winners bracket. Skyline defeated Victory Christian 8-0 in its regional opener Tuesday morning.
