During the Monday afternoon meeting of the Cherokee County School Board, Superintendent Mike Welsh asked Mr. Russell Jacoway to give the Cenergistic Energy Program Update. Jacoway said there are no main issues. They have enjoyed $65, 000 in savings after all the expenses this year with all of the Cherokee County Schools.
He also told them he has been busy programming thermostats at the new Sand Rock High School. He said he is optimistic Sand Rock will work out as well as Centre Elementary. Jacoway traveled to Dallas, Texas recently for a Cenergistic Conference and is fired up with all the information they gave him. He will be providing brochures about energy saving ideas this fall to the students. Summer is the busiest time of the year for him.
The Board then approved the Energy Saving Budget along with the Proposal for Mathematics Intervention Resources, which is mandated.
The Board declared 11 items as surplus property to be sold.
Next on the agenda, was approving out of state travel for John Kincer and the CCHS FFA Officers to attend FFA Officer Retreat in Pigeon Forge, TN on June 17-19 2024 and Mikenzie Burt, Nikki Gossett and the Cedar Bluff Varsity Cheerleaders to attend UCA Cheer Camp at the Great Wolf Lodge in LaGrange , GA on June 4-7th. Both were approved.
The Board also approved the Personnel Action, the Professional Development and reviewed the current job postings also on their agenda.
Superintendent Welsh updated the Board with Phase 2 of Sand Rock High School which has begun.
He told the Board it was National Teacher Appreciation Week and thanked all the teachers for their hard work.
After this, Welsh and the Board gave praise and recognition to the 18 Cherokee County School 2023-2024 retirees along with gift bags. Seven were present for this recognition.
The next Cherokee County Schools Board Meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 20th.
