Leesburg Town Council Approves Dog Park

During the regular meeting of the Leesburg Town Council Monday afternoon, the Council heard presentation from Jeffrey Givens a local Eagle Scout who wants to build a Dog Park at Town Park for his Eagle Scout Project. The area will be 40 feet by 40 feet and will have an area to take care of pets including a watering station. The Town Council authorized the Mayor to sign the Contract with the Scouts, which the Town’s Attorney is drafting.

A sewer line extension on Splawn Street was approved. It will consist of 1600 feet of pipe, fittings, a road bore and labor at a cost of $14,150.

Two of the Town’s police officers were approved to attend SWAT School at a cost of $385 each plus the Town will have to provide Ammo. Those who will attend are Matt Walker and Austin Peppers.

In Closing Comments, Mayor Pierce informed the Council, the Farmers Market is now open in the Park each Saturday until September 14th.

The next Leesburg Town Council will be June 3rd with planning session at 4:30 pm and meeting at 5.
