Hill holds off Madison County, leads Lady Warriors to regional softball title game

ALBERTVILLE – Emma Hill held Madison County to two earned runs on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts. She was also 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and two RBIs in leading the Cherokee County Lady Warriors to a 3-2 win in the winners bracket of the East Softball Regional in Albertville on Monday.

Anna Walker added a hit, a walk and a run for the Lady Warriors. Bristol Bass delivered a hit and a RBI. Lanie Williams walked and scored a run. Macy Lea walked.

Cherokee County scored a run in the top of the second, but Madison County tied the game with a run in the bottom half of the inning. The Lady Warriors took the lead for good with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth. Madison County scored its only other run in the bottom of the fifth.

The Lady Warriors advance to the Class 4A regional title game, where they will face White Plains on Tuesday at 1:45 p.m. White Plains defeated Corner 7-5 in other regional action on Monday.
