Piedmont boys third, girls fourth in Class 3A, Section 4 meet at Fort Payne

FORT PAYNE – The Piedmont Bulldogs took third place and the Lady Bulldogs finished fourth in the Class 3A, Section 4 track and field meet at Fort Payne on Friday and Saturday.

The Bulldog boys earned a total of 81 points. J.B. Pennington won the boys meet with 140 points. Weaver was second at 127 points.

Caiden Cardelli and Sam Tolbert were first in the 800-meter run (2:08.50) and the shot put (43’7.5”) respectively. Chase Cardelli took third in the 400-meter dash (53.39).

The Bulldogs’ 4×400 meter relay team earned first place (3:36.50) and the 4×800 meter relay took second place.

The Lady Bulldogs gained a total of 84 points. J.B. Pennington was first in the 3A girls meet with 152 points, followed by Hokes Bluff in second (108) and Randolph County in third (92).

Claudia Dempsey led the Lady Bulldogs with a pair of first places in the 400-meter dash (1:03.32) and the 800-meter run (2:34.28). Lexi Ray won the pole vault (9’6”).

Mattie Todd took second in the 3200-meter run (13:10.24) and third in the 1600-meter run (6:09.40).

The Lady Bulldogs’ 4×800 meter relay team earned first place (11:43.77), and Katie Brown took third in the high jump (4’10”).
