Piedmont softball blanks Sand Rock

SAND ROCK – The Piedmont Lady Bulldogs scored six runs in the top of the second and three more in the top of the sixth to take a 9-0 softball win at Sand Rock on Tuesday.

Brothers led the Lady Bulldogs at the plate by going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Savannah Smith went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Ava Pope was also 2-for-4 with a run.
Carson Young went 1-for-4 with a double and a run. Cayla Brothers was 1-for-4 with two runs. Cadence Buttram scored a run and drove in one.

Young picked up the win for the Lady Bulldogs. She went the distance, scattering six hits and four strikeouts.

Molly Lay and Aubie Camp led the Lady Wildcats at the plate. Both went 2-for-3. Peyton Johnson and Maddie Clanton both contributed a hit apiece.

Alyvia McMichen suffered the loss for Sand Rock. She tossed two innings and gave up six runs (none earned) on five hits with no walks and a pair of strikeouts.

Emma Sipsy and Macy Martin came in for relief. Sipsy tossed four innings and gave up three runs (none earned) on three hits with a walk and a strikeout. Martin worked an inning with a walk and a pair of strikeouts.
