CENTRE – Grayson Tucker surrendered an unearned run on three hits with six strikeouts, and Emma Hill tossed two hitless innings with five Ks in leading the Cherokee County Lady Warriors to a 5-1 area softball win over Etowah on Thursday.
Raechel Russell led the Lady Warriors (25-4) at the plate with a pair of hits, including a double, with a run and two RBIs. Abby Lea homered. Lanie Williams collected a hit, a walk and a RBI. Audrey Haygood had a hit, a run and a RBI. Tucker, Hill and Anna Walker each finished with a hit.
Cherokee County scored a run in the bottom of the first and four more in the second to take a 5-0 lead. Etowah scored its lone run in the top of the fourth.
