BOAZ – Cherokee County High School’s Nevaeh Gaidurgis clinched a berth in the Class 4A-5A, Section 6 tennis tournament championship match with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Douglas’s Cyra Burks in No. 3 singles at Boaz on Tuesday.

Gaidurgis will take on Donoho’s Avery Barnett for the No. 3 girls title on Wednesday.

Gaidurgis and Mattie Goss also reached the semifinals in No. 3 doubles, but fell against Douglas’s Burks and Jesa Leigh Bonds. The scores were 7-6 and 6-3.

Ella Maples and Goss both reached the semifinals in No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively, but fell short to Bonds (6-0, 6-1) and Donoho’s Taylor Worley (7-6 (2), 6-2).
