Collinsville finishes runner-up to Plainview in DeKalb County Baseball Tournament

IDER – In the DeKalb County Baseball Tournament at Ider, Class 2A, No. 4 Collinsville finished runner-up to Plainview on Saturday. The Panthers made the championship game by blanking Valley Head (13-0) and Geraldine (3-0) before falling to the Bears 6-2.

In the win over Valley Head, Mason McAteer went 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs and a RBI. Jeremiah Killian collected a pair of hits, including a double, with a walk and three RBIs. Will Edmondson added a pair of hits, including a double, with a RBI.

Eli Griggs doubled and scored a run. Gavin Lang added a hit, a walk, two runs and three RBIs. Justin Pruitt produced a hit and three RBIs. Zach Clanton came away with a hit, two walks and two runs.

Cooper Cooker contributed a hit, a walk and run. Tytan Morgan managed a hit and a run.
Kyler Beene scored twice and Lucas McDaniel scored run.

Edmondson earned the win after working four innings. He surrendered just two hits and a walk with nine strikeouts.

In the win over Geraldine, Clanton tossed a two-hitter with three walks and seven strikeouts in earning the win. He was also 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and a RBI.

Edmondson also added a pair of hits and a RBI. Killian contributed a hit. McAteer, Lang, Jake Middlebrooks, Morgan and Shaun Stewart each earned a walk.

In the championship game, Morgan managed a pair of hits, including a triple, with a RBI. Edmondson had a hit, a walk, a run and a RBI. McAteer and Lang both finished with a hit.

Killian walked twice. Coker and Clanton both walked. McDaniel scored a run.

Lang suffered the loss after tossing six innings. He gave up three earned runs on seven hits with a walk and eight strikeouts.
