Winners of their last six games, the Cedar Bluff Tigers (13-11) enter this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association baseball rankings. The latest poll was released early Thursday morning.
The Tigers begin a crucial Class 1A, Area 13 series with Spring Garden (7-12) on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Jacksonville State University’s Rudy Abbott Field at Jim Case Stadium. The winner of the series clinches a playoff berth.
Speaking of the Panthers, they continued to be nominated for the 1A poll. Gaylesville (13-11) dropped out after being ranked ninth two weeks ago.
In Class 2A, the Collinsville Panthers (21-4) moved up a spot to No. 4. Piedmont (19-10) continues to be the top dogs in 3A, and Class 4A Cherokee County (15-10) continues to be nominated.
In softball, Spring Garden (14-8) continues to be ranked fifth and Piedmont (14-6) at No. 6. Cherokee County (23-3) continues to be nominated.
