Collinsville’s Clanton strikes out 13 in area baseball series opener against Sand Rock

COLLINSVILLE – Zach Clanton surrendered an earned run on three hits with four walks and 13 strikeouts in leading the Collinsville Panthers past Sand Rock 20-1 in an area baseball series opener on Monday.

Mason McAteer posted three hits, a walk, three runs and two RBIs at the plate for the Panthers. Gavin Lang homered, doubled, scored three runs and had two RBIs. Will Edmondson also had a pair of hits, including a double, with a walk, three runs and a RBI. Tytan Morgan tallied two hits, a walk, two runs and three RBIs.

Sylas Adams and Cooper Coker both doubled, walked and scored twice. Coker also drove in a run. Lucas McDaniel managed a hit, a run and two RBIs. Dawson Cothran contributed a hit and a run. Justin Pruitt posted a hit and two RBIs. Kyler Beene scored a run.

Kane Robison led the Wildcats at the plate with a home run in the second inning.

Morgan Tucker and Caiden Bullard both finished with a hit.

The two teams are scheduled to finish their series on Thursday beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Sand Rock.
