A Rome couple has been arrested on the charges of Cruelty to Children in the 1st Degree as well as battery and aggravated battery.
According to the arrest warrants and Floyd County Jail records, 36-year-old Christopher Shawn Johnson and 31-year-old Hannah Marie Johnson – struck a child several times on the rear, hips, and upper legs with a belt. The injuries prevented the child from being able to lie down and sleep.
Christopher Shawn Johnson also stands accused of punching that child in the face causing injuries to the victim’s ears and cheeks – and lacerations inside the child’s mouth. The incidents occurred at the couple’s Chulio Road residence – according to the warrants.
