Piedmont goes 1-2 in Hixson (Tenn.) softball tournament

HIXSON, Tenn. – The Piedmont Lady Bulldogs went 1-2 in a softball tournament at Hixson, Tenn., on Saturday. They lost to Alcoa 7-0, defeated Bledsoe 3-0 and lost to Cherokee County 4-0.

In the loss to Alcoa, the Lady Bulldogs managed just two hits from Savannah Smith and Amarae Champion. Smith suffered the loss after giving up four earned runs on five hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

In the win over Bledsoe, Cayla Brothers tripled and drove in all three runs to lead the Lady Bulldogs at the plate. Jaycee Glover and Amiyah Thomas both had a hit and scored a run. Carson Young and Avan Pope both contributed a hit. Eliza Mathis scored a run.

Young picked up the win after tossing a two-hitter with a strikeout.

In the loss to Cherokee County, Young had the lone hit for the Lady Bulldogs. Smith suffered the loss after giving up an earned run on six hits with two walks and six strikeouts.
