Firearm Found at Chattooga High School

Chattooga County Georgia School Superintendent Jared Hosmer said that a student at Chattooga High School was found with a gun on Friday. 

According to the Superintendent, someone reported that the student had the firearm in their book bag.  Hosmer says school officials immediately contacted the School Resource Officer.  Hosmer said “the School Administration and the School Resource Officer found the student and the weapon – and BOTH were in the custody of the School Administration and the School Resource Officer within 5 minutes of receiving the report; at no time was the weapon brandished or anyone threatened”.

Hosmer added “Both the CHS Administration – and the District – take the safety of our students very seriously, and steps were taken – to eliminate any threat which resulted in no immediate danger to staff or students”.
