CENTRE – The Cherokee County Warriors split an area baseball doubleheader with visiting North Jackson on Thursday. The Warriors held on for a 6-5 win in the first game, but North Jackson won a wild slugfest in the second game by the final of 20-18.
In the first game, Nate Black led the Warriors at the plate with three hits. Jace Turner tallied two hits, including a home run and a double, with two runs and three RBIs. Jeb Crane doubled, walked, scored a run and drove in one. Luke Young and Case Hill both had a hit and scored a run. Carson Tittle tallied a hit and a RBI. Parker Wilson finished with a hit.
Ben Elsberry picked up the win. He scattered five runs on eight hits with four walks and seven strikeouts.
In the second game, the two teams combined for 38 runs, 29 hits, 15 walks and 16 errors. A total of eight pitchers saw action on the mound.
Turner led the Warriors at the plate with three hits, including a double. He also walked and drove in a run.
Young added a pair of hits, including a double, with a run and five RBIs. Black also collected two hits, including a double, with a walk, two runs and a RBI. Hill had two hits, including a double, with two runs and two RBIs. Adam Griffith contributed two hits, including a double, with two walks, two runs and a RBI.
Wilson had a hit and two runs. Crane came away with a hit, a walk, a run and a RBI. Tittle finished with a hit, a walk and two RBIs. Cooper Rodgers walked twice, scored four runs and had a RBI. Cooper Allen scored three runs.
Garrett McRay, Jackson Aultman, Griffith and Hill each pitched for the Warriors.
North Jackson also won the series opener on Tuesday by the final of 7-3.
