Piedmont softball downs Woodland 6-1

WOODLAND – Cayla Brothers and Carson Young both collected a pair of hits and drove in a run apiece in leading the Piedmont softball team to a 6-1 victory in a tournament at Woodland on Saturday.

One of Brothers’ hits was a double. Jaycee Glover, Savannah Smith, Cacey Brothers and Eliza Mathis each had a hit and scored a run. Smith, Cacey Brothers and Mathis also drove in a run each. Amiyah Thomas and Amarae Champion both finished with a hit.

Young also picked up the win in the circle. She tossed five innings and gave up an earned run on seven hits with no walks and a strikeout.

Piedmont travels to Southside in Gadsden on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
