ANNISTON – Cacey and Cayla Brothers both had big games at the plate in leading the Piedmont Lady Bulldogs to a 5-1 softball win at Wellborn on Thursday.
Cacey Brothers went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. Cayla Brothers was 2-for-3 with a triple and a double with two runs. Savannah Smith also had a pair of hits with a run and two RBIs.
Carson Young, Ava Pope, Eliza Mathis and Cadence Buttram each finished with a hit. Amiyah Thomas drove in a run.
Young picked up the win after working 5 1/3 innings. She gave up an unearned run on seven hits with three strikeouts. Smith earned the save after tossing 1 2/3 innings of no-hit ball with a pair of strikeouts.
Piedmont (5-0) travels to Southside of Gadsden on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
