An Alabama Police Officer has died following an off-duty shooting.
Sylacauga Police on Monday identified the victim as 40-year-old Jeremy Dewayne Wilson; he was an officer with the Ohatchee Police Department and he formerly served as a Talladega County Sheriff’s Office Deputy. Officers spoke with other people inside the residence, and it was quickly determined that the shooting incident was the result of what was termed a domestic violence altercation between members of the home. Wilson was taken by ambulance to Coosa Valley Medical Center Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Whatley said no arrests have been made at this time and he added “All of the parties involved are cooperating with the investigation,’’ The investigation is ongoing; no additional information is being released at this time; anyone with information is being asked to call the Sylacauga Police Department Investigations Division at (256) 401-2464.
