Cedar Bluff baseball rally falls short at Gaston

GADSDEN – Caleb Edmondson had a pair of hits, including a home run, but the Cedar Bluff Tigers fell short at Gaston 8-7 in baseball action on Tuesday.

Isaac Bishop doubled, walked, scored a run and drove in one for the Tigers. Samson Mallett had a hit, a run and two RBIs. Bryson Teague tallied a hit, a walk and a RBI. Hunter Stallings managed a hit and a walk. Kaden Pack posted a hit and scored a run. Jacob Chambers contributed a hit. Eli McFry walked twice and scored twice.

Pack suffered the loss after working five innings. He gave up an earned run on four hits with three walks and six strikeouts. Logan Hampton worked an inning, allowing a hit and walk with strikeout.

Cedar Bluff trailed 6-2 until the top of the fourth inning when they scored a pair of runs to make it a 6-4 game. Gaston gained two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to go up 8-4. The Tigers tallied three runs in the top of the seventh before the Bulldogs were able to retire the side and earn the win.

The two teams are scheduled to play each other again on Thursday at Cedar Bluff at 4:30 p.m.
