Donald Trump to Hold Campaign Rally in Rome this Weekend

If you have business in downtown Rome Saturday, you can expect travel delays.

On Thursday afternoon, the Rome Police Department issued a statement saying, “There will be a flurry of activity on Saturday, March 9th, in Rome and Floyd County. Make plans now for any travel that you may do in and around Rome, especially the downtown area. Visit www.RomeGa.us for closure and parking options.  Information about the parking – and traffic control – may change quickly”.

Rome Police are saying that Tribune Street, between 3rd and 4th Avenue will be closed until after 7:00pm Saturday, with NO through traffic being permitted.  All walking trails between the Rome/Floyd Law Enforcement Center and Hawthorne Suites will be closed from 9:00am until 7:00pm as well (Saturday).

The REASON for HEIGHTENED SECURITY is very simple:

Former President Donald Trump is expected to hold a Campaign Rally in downtown Rome at the Forum River Center on Saturday at 5:00pm – and the Secret Service along with the Trump Campaign have reportedly been planning the event in coordination with Floyd County and Rome officials for several weeks.

Tickets to the event are required. They’re available online for free through the Trump website: DonaldJTrump.com/events.
