Probate Judge Tim Burgess administered the oath of office to the 12 members of the agency during a private ceremony held at the Cherokee County Administration Building.
The Cherokee County EMA has never had a full staff and now they do. All the new members had to be sworn in to conform with State Law as prescribed by law for officers to do the duties of the agency. The staff has grown in size. There are two full-time employees and now 10 volunteer team members rounding out the staff. The Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency responds to a variety of emergency and recovery situations.
During the ceremony, Judge Burgess praised the staff for their outstanding loyalty in serving the citizens of Cherokee County and the hard work they put in.
