Scam Investigations Conducted by Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver – area law enforcement is now investigating reports of scams – involving people pretending to be members of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.  These individuals are telling people that they’ve missed a court date, and they have a warrant for their arrest.

The scams include people asking others to meet and pay a fine – to recall their warrant.  These calls have reportedly appeared on caller ID’s – such as (256)-927-3365.   If you receive a call from someone saying that they’re with a government or law-enforcement agency, and they request ANY PERSONAL FINANCIAL INFORMATION or DEMAND PAYMENT – it is a SCAM.

The Sheriff’s Office NEVER makes phone calls soliciting money.

Be AWARE.  Be SAFE.
