Cedar Bluff evens baseball record with a pair of one-run wins against Altamont

RAGLAND – The Cedar Bluff Tigers swept a baseball doubleheader from Altamont at Ragland on Saturday, highlighted by a Jacob Chambers walk-off RBI-single in the bottom of the eighth inning of the second game. The Tigers took game two 8-7 and won game one 5-4.

In the second game, Chambers led the Tigers (5-5) at the plate by going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Isaac Bishop was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run. Bryson Teague and Hunter Stallings both went 2-for-4 with a RBI apiece. Teague also stole three bases.

Caleb Edmondson tripled, walked three times and scored four runs. Samuel Mallett contributed a hit, a run and a RBI. Eli McFry walked and scored a run. Dylan McDaniel had a RBI.

Kolwyn Morrison started the game for the Tigers and tossed 4 1/3 innings. He gave up five earned runs on four hits with four walks and five strikeouts.

Logan Hampton worked 1/3 of an inning and gave up a hit and walk. Kaden Pack threw 3 1/3 innings and gave up two hits and two walks with six strikeouts.

The Tigers also won the first game with two runs in the seventh. Teague tallied two hits and drove in two runs. Edmondson and Stallings both contributed a hit and a run. Edmondson also walked. Bishop had a hit and drove in a run. Chambers had a hit. McDaniel walked twice and scored a pair of runs.

Teague tossed six innings and gave up three earned runs on six hits with a walk and seven strikeouts. Chambers worked an inning, giving up an earned run on a hit with a walk.

Cedar Bluff is scheduled to play at Sand Rock on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
