The body of a man that was found on the railroad tracks in West Rome – Wednesday, between the Old Airport Road and Kirton Street – has since been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab for autopsy.
According to Floyd County Coroner Gene Proctor, at 9:30 that night – the individual was pronounced “dead at the scene” – by Deputy Coroner John Hamilton. Proctor said that none of the trains reported striking anyone, but the man did have some injuries.
The individual has not yet been identified. He is believed to be a Hispanic male, and is thought to be between 25 and 30 years of age.
