Piedmont Police Chief Announces Significant Drug-Related Arrest

Piedmont Police Chief, Nathan Johnson, recently announced a significant drug-related arrest, made by the Piedmont Police Department (February 21st, 2024).

According to the Calhoun Journal report, the suspect, who was identified as Preston Eugene Keller, age 41 from Piedmont, was taken into custody following a traffic stop, which uncovered a “substantial” amount of illicit substances and prohibited items.  And according to Chief Johnson on February 21st – Investigators with the Piedmont Police Department observed a red Nissan Sentra, fail to stop at a stop sign and accelerate at a high rate of speed.  The vehicle then failed to maintain the lane riding the shoulder of the roadway.  A traffic stop was conducted – and investigators seized roughly 66 grams of Methamphetamine, Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia, and a Taurus G2C 9mm, along with $2,238 in U.S. Currency.

Preston Eugene Keller, 41 from Piedmont was arrested and charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine and the Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd, the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm.

Keller is currently being held on a $34,000 Bond, and with a Preliminary Hearing scheduled for March 18th (2024) at 1:30pm – taking place at the Calhoun County District Court.
