Coroner McDonald Confirms Identify of Remains as Oscar Lewis King, Missing Since 2013

Cherokee County Coroner Paul McDonald, in conjunction with the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, has made an identification of the human remains recovered from a truck in Weiss Lake last Friday. Coroner McDonald has confirmed the identify as Oscar Lewis King, who went missing in 2013 at the age of 74.

It appears King accidentally drove into the water off the boat ramp located at Chesnut Bay Resort near Leesburg. According to Cherokee County Chief Deputy Josh Summerford, no foul play is suspected.

Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver said, “we are thankful that the case is now resolved and the family can gain closure in knowing what happened.”
