Adult Programs:

1.     Green Bag: Meets the third Thursday of the Month. A lunch series that focuses on gardening. These are one-hour lectures presented by Master Gardeners and other professionals. Bring your lunch! We’ll provide the drinks and dessert.

March 21: Raised Bed Gardening with Kent Huisingh

            April 18: Let’s Talk Dirt presentation & Soil Analysis Workshop with Vince Ramsey, Certified Lab Tech

2.     Read Around Book Club meets at 11:00 a.m. on the first Monday of each month.

3.     Sew Joyful Quilters: Meet with quilters each Thursday at 10:00 a.m. to discuss quilt design and techniques. The quilters work on different quilt projects throughout the year.

4.     Chair Yoga: Every Friday from 11:45 to 12:00. Come stretch and relax with Instructor Linda Abernathy and Library Director Dana Carroll.

  1. Wise About Computers Through a grant through the Tillotson-Menlo Charitable Foundation the library will once again be able to host computer workshops. A total of four different workshops will be offered in the month of March. These will be taught by Joyce Perdue. Space is limited to 10 people per workshop. Please come by the library or call 256-927-5838 to sign up.

  • EMAIL AND INTERNET BROWSING March 13, 14, & 15 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM including digital footprint and internet safety
  • HOW TO USE GOOGLE PLATFORM (DRIVE, MAPS, CALENDAR) March 20, 21, & 22 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM
  • INTRO TO AI (ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE) March 25, 26, & 27 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM The basics of AI and Machine Learning

Children’s Programs:

6.     Storytime: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30-10:30.

Join Jinx and Ms. Rebecca for songs, crafts, and reading fun. Space is limited each week; call 256-927-5838 to reserve a spot.

  1. 1000 Books Before Kindergarten

The concept is simple, but the rewards are priceless. Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books (yes, you can repeat books) before your precious one starts kindergarten. For information on how to sign up, call the library at 256-927-5838.

Teen Programs:

  1. Teen Book Club: Rather Be Reading

Teens ages 13-18 will meet on Monday, Feb 26, at 3:30 to discuss their book pick of the month.

  1. Kids & Kin: A Statewide supportive program for anyone caring for a relative’s children. Everyone is welcome! Contact Larinda Garrett at 334-465-0099 for more information. 10:00-12:00 pm.

Centre Career Center: Career Specialist Andre Mitchell will be at the library on Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to      4:00 p.m. to assist with your job search needs. 

Services include resume preparation, job search assistance, WIOA eligibility, on-the-job training, etc.
