ALBERTVILLE – The Cherokee County Warriors swept a baseball doubleheader on Saturday, highlighted by a seven-run rally in the top of the seventh inning against Albertville to take a 9-7 victory.
The Warriors (4-2) also defeated Shades Valley 11-1 in five innings.
In the win over Albertville, Cherokee County rallied from a 7-2 deficit, with the big blow a three-run homer from Nate Black. Black went 2-for-4 in the game with the homer, two runs and three RBIs.
Luke Young went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run and two RBIs. Case Hill was also 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs.
James Griffith went 1-for-4 with a double and a run. Parker Wilson was 1-for-4 with a RBI. Cooper Allen was 1-for-1 with a run.
Garrett McRay worked 3 1/3 innings and gave up four earned runs on three hits with four walks and a strikeout. Griffith tossed 2/3 of an inning and gave up an earned runs on two hits with a strikeout. Jackson Aultman worked three innings, giving up an earned run on three hits with no walks and two strikeouts.
In the win over Shades Valley, Young went 3-for-3 with a double, two stolen bases, two runs and five RBIs. Jeb Crane was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Rodgers was 2-for-2 with a double, two walks and three runs.
Black went 1-for-2 with a walk and a RBI. Benjamin Elsberry was 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs. Griffith finished with a walk and a run.
Elsberry earned the win after working four innings. He gave up an unearned run on a hit with four strikeouts. Black tossed an inning of no-hit ball with two strikeouts.
Cherokee County travels to Pell City on Monday.
