Woman Arrested for “Meth” Possession in Summerville, Georgia

A Summerville, Georgia Police officer initiated a traffic stop on the Lyerly Highway near Jim’s Restaurant after a 2017 Kia Spectra swerved into his lane and nearly sideswiped his patrol car.   The driver of the Kia pulled into the parking lot of Jim’s Restaurant.

As the officer was speaking with the female driver, she exhibited signs of impairment; the officer asked the woman if she was okay and the woman said she was tired from “being up all day and all night”.  Believing the woman might be under the influence the officer then asked for consent to search, and found suspected methamphetamine inside the woman’s pants pocket.

Penny Dianne Copeland – 52 – was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
